I am new to Virginia, but have found a Hot spot not far from were I work. It is a section of the Chickahominy River at Walkers Dam. You can enter on one side before the Dam at Ed Allens Campground and fish the "lake" side or enter the Rockahock Campground and be able to drop in on either side of the dam. The fishing is great on both sides with the Lake side having more of a focus on Bass, Perch, Crappie, Bowfin and Pickerel or on the River side with LargeMouth and Striper Bass, Perch, Pickerel, Bowfin, Gar, Catfish, Shad and Herring. The Shad and the Herring seem to be the big springtime event. The areas of grasses and lilly pad fields are immense along with a shore line full of cypress trees willing to hold Bass. There was a Fish ladder and lock on the dam that was damaged a while back, but is now under construction. So if you are in that area of Virginia, stop by and we a hook
