Drought! The word brings on a lot of concern and anxiety in most during the summer months. Water restictions, drying or dead lawns, etc. You will see boat docks suspended in the air and shore lines extended outward farther than you would like. I believe though that there is one plus for us anglers and that is this condition opens up a door (or window) for the fisherman to see the structure like downed trees, Rock formations, shore points etc you didn't know existed that that would normally be submerged throughout the rest of the year. This is an invaluable time to collect data that most electronics couldn't offer. Take Pictures, use a Video camera ( preferably a HatCam) mark a map or use your GPS where applicable. This also goes for the time of the year (Mostly Fall) when many lakes do their Drawdown. The way I understand it the drawdown is done to help reduce the spreading growth of nuisance vegatation and to repair dams. But anglers, once again, can collect valuable information for future excursions. It may also help you save that prop knowing where those obstacles are as well. Take advantage of these conditions to assist you in a better understanding of where to find the fish throughout the year.
